Leadership Development Initiative

Front Page Slide LDP - Minus TristanAffordable housing development and management is getting more and more complicated. The competencies necessary to not only do the work, but to also supervise and lead it, are demanding. Ensuring that there is an adequate supply of leaders at all levels is a critical part of the success of their, and our, collective ability to achieve our vision and an increase in overall affordable housing inventory.

Through support from the Harry Hoffman Leadership Fund, and a grant from member Impact Capital. HDC’s newly established Leadership Development Initiative helps member staff expand their knowledge of leadership competencies and industry intricacies to increase organizational capacity, as well as support for more safe and affordable housing options. To that end, we are pleased to announce several new partnerships with organizations like TDI, Neighborworks, GrantStation, and NACEDA.  HDC will be subsidizing opportunities from these organizations, which will expand and grow your personal and professional leadership skills and network, in order to provide members with discounts and scholarships.

In addition, HDC will fully subsidize 3 of our members to participate in TDI’s 4-Day Leadership Academy (either Winter or Summer Session), who might be otherwise unable to attend due to registration fees. We would also like to offer 3 additional members a 75% discount to the Leadership Academy. Discount is based on member need and will be addressed on a first-come-first-serve basis.  To be considered for these scholarships please contact Loren.

GrantStation: Members of HDC can get full access to GrantStation for just $75 annually ($699/yr regular, non-member price) thanks to a partnership between HDC and the National Alliance of Community Economic Development Associations (NACEDA).  GrantStation offers nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies the opportunity to identify potential funding sources for their programs or projects, as well as resources to mentor these organizations through the grantseeking process. Additional opportunities through our Leadership Development Initiative will be added on a regular basis. If you know of current opportunities that are not listed, but you would like access to, please contact Loren.
