HDC collaborates with the Puget Sound Regional Council and other regional partners including cities, housing authorities, counties, transit authorities, public health agencies, affordable housing advocates, environmental organizations and development interests to implement the Growing Transit Communities Strategy.
The Strategy culminates a two-year, consensus-driven, corridor-based planning process. It includes a toolbox of 24 key strategies to support equitable TOD, a typology of eight implementation approaches to link strategies to specific communities, and a Regional Compact to pledge an ongoing commitment to implementation between public, private and non-profit partners from around the region. HDC works closely with PSRC to implement the affordable housing and equitable development goals, which test, recommend, and implement local policies and financial tools to encourage and facilitate a wide variety of housing choices along light rail corridors.
