HDC Sustainability Update – February 2026

We hope that you are enjoying HDC’s new website! Kudos to our Communications Manager who worked through the entire refresh with exceptional results!!

HDC’s Sustainable Buildings Initiative is already in the thick of our work for 2026. Our first Learn at Lunch of the year was a great discussion about replacing affordable housing toxins in existing flooring with clean / healthy flooring materials to enhance tenant and staff environmental equity for better health. If you missed the live session, here are links to the YouTube recording and the healthy flooring alternatives matrix.

Looking forward, registration is now open for our Sustainable Innovations Summit! This is a live event in the beautiful Panorama Room at Pacific Tower on Beacon Hill. In collaboration with Smart Buildings Center, the event is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, from 10 am to 3pm. We will hear from development teams and energy professionals that are innovating building methodologies, mechanical and technological advances to achieve higher performance, and reduced carbon emissions, in new construction and renovation projects. Philanthropic investors and educators will be sharing about new products they are researching, testing and investing in for a peek at what we might expect in the future. Vendor and manufacturing representatives will round out the program by showcasing their equipment and technology. We hope you can join us!
