Eastside Affordable Housing Convening
The shortage of affordable housing options across our region is particularly severe in east King County cities. Home to some of the region’s largest employers, massive transit investments, and excellent school systems, the “eastside” provides ample opportunity for families and individuals. However, the soaring cost of housing prevents many from settling in this subregion.
HDC has worked alongside allies in the subregion to establish the Eastside Affordable Housing Convening. Community advocates, non-profits, businesses, and communities of faith have come together to advocate for bold solutions to the subregion’s housing shortage.
Challenge Statement
Build a unified advocacy voice to accelerate the production and preservation of affordable homes in Eastside cities resulting in increased housing access and opportunity to share in the prosperity, amenities, and economic vitality of the rapidly growing and thriving region, especially for Black, Indigenous and People of Color, who disproportionately experience the negative impacts of our region’s housing crisis.
Meetings take place on the third Thursday of each month from 1 – 2 pm.
