Protect Affordable Housing in Your City from Federal Tax Reform

Proposed elimination of a key affordable housing development tool, Private Activity Bonds (PABs), would make it much harder for our region to meet its housing need at a time when there is more demand than ever.

In the last thirty years, PABs have helped build 24,000 affordable apartments in King County alone.

You can help by urging your Representatives to rise to our affordable housing need by protecting Private Activity Bonds. Sample letters from the ACTION Campaign:

Housing Gaps in Mercer Island

To meet the county-wide proportional need for affordable homes in 2030, Mercer Island needs:

  • 1,166 homes affordable to households with incomes between 0-30% of Area Median Income (AMI)
  • 1,151 homes affordable to households with incomes between 30-50% of AMI
  • 1,365 homes affordable to households with incomes between 50-80% of AMI
