Copperleaf Northgate

A joint venture between BRIDGE Housing and Community Roots Housing, Copperleaf Northgate is King County’s largest affordable housing investment—offering 235 units of high-quality affordable housing and amenities, including 24 systems-connected units for individuals who have experienced housing instability or homelessness, steps from Northgate Station.

Architect Information

  • Unique Design Features: Extensive use of landscape and open spaces help to create a more residential feel in a neighborhood that is under a substantial transition from retail-only to a mixed-use, transit-oriented community. Amenities include a community room, a flexible makerspace, an outdoor courtyard, bike storage, laundry facilities on every floor, and a media center. Resident services are provided by Wellspring Family Services.
  • Sustainability Features: Copperleaf meets Washington state’s Evergreen Sustainable Development Standards, roughly equivalent to LEED Platinum. The building includes energy-efficient appliances, lighting, and plumbing, as well as enhanced air-handling systems in common areas.

Site Details: Copperleaf Northgate is a joint venture between BRIDGE Housing and Community Roots Housing as part of King County’s transit-oriented development efforts. Built on publicly owned land from King County Metro, the project results from long-term public investment in affordable housing near major transit, with planning underway since 2018. King County contributed the land and $30 million in funding.
