Imagine Housing was founded in 1987 by a small group of highly passionate members of Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church. Now, nearly forty years later, we are working in direct partnership with Saint Andrew’s to develop a community affordable for families and individuals on the east side of the church property—returning to our roots in a new way, thanks to the advocacy of community members and Bellevue city leadership.
Architect Information
- Design Features: The design vision for the development emphasizes sustainability, community and accessibility. The project will blend into a surrounding single-family neighborhood through thoughtful design features, such as sufficient parking, green space and community areas, to ensure the development complements the existing character of the neighborhood and nearby assets like Robinswood Park.
- Sustainability Features: Sustainable design principles include tree preservation, stormwater management and green space integration following the Evergreen Design Standard. The project will also include a Salmon Safe Certification – the assessment will be conducted utilizing Salmon-Safe’s urban standards to evaluate whether site planning, development, and operation is consistent with best practices for protecting downstream water quality and promoting urban ecological function.
- Community Engagement: Imagine Housing has a robust community outreach program and prioritizes transparent, proactive communication with neighbors and stakeholders. For Forest Edge Apartments, outreach has included engagement with Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church, neighborhood associations, and nearby residents to share project goals and gather feedback. Imagine will continue to meet with community groups, including culturally specific organizations, service providers, and local civic partners, to ensure the project reflects community needs and concerns. Public information will be shared through meetings, mailings, and online updates to provide clear, accessible information and address questions. This approach helps build trust, foster neighborhood support, and ensure the project is welcomed as a community asset.
